PM completes consultation on cabinet reshuffle

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has completed consultations regarding an upcoming reshuffle in the federal cabinet. The Ministers of Information, Energy, Aviation and Economic Affairs as well as Chairman Kashmir Committee are expected to be changed.

According to sources, some ministers will lose their posts while some new faces will be added to the federal cabinet. The prime minister will announce the cabinet reshuffle by Tuesday evening.

Sources said that Khusro Bakhtiar will not remain at his current post of Minister for Economic Affairs. Shibli Faraz could be given charge of the Ministry of Petroleum and Aviation. Fawad Chaudhry could be given the portfolio of Information Minister or Interior Minister.

There are reports that Fawad Chaudhry wants additional charge of the Ministry of Science and Technology along with the Ministry of Information, while Farrukh Habib is likely to be made a Minister of State.

It is also expected that Shahryar Afridi will be removed as Chairman Kashmir Committee and Fakhar Imam will be reappointed at the post. The ministry of energy and petroleum is also likely to be taken back from Omar Ayub Khan.

A decision has been taken in principle to divide the Information and Broadcasting Ministry into two separate entities. There will be a Special Assistant to the PM on Broadcasting while Information will have a Minister of State.

As reported earlier, Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar will be replacing Dr Hafeez Shaikh as Finance Minister. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has confirmed the development.
