Nomination of PML-N's Miftah Ismail for NA-249 by election approved

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for NA-249 by-elections Miftah Ismail have been accepted by returning officer.

Talking to media persons, Miftah Ismail said that he never had nationality of any other country. He also confirmed that his party has approached Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for support in the upcoming election in the constituency.

The NA-249 seat was relinquished by the PTI’s Faisal Vawda, who had won the seat in the 2018 general election, beating PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif by a small margin of 723 votes.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has now issued ticket to local official Amjad Afridi for the NA-249 (Karachi West-II). The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced to hold the by-election on April 29.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers of the candidates will be completed by March 25. The contestants will be able to lodge appeals against the returning officer’s decision in the appellate tribunal till March 29.
