Abhinandan Varthaman says he was treated well by Pakistan Army

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, who was captured after being hit by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on February 27, 2019, said that what is happening in Kashmir no one is aware and added that we have to think patiently about the situation of Kashmir.

Abhinandan Varthaman said that he never felt any difference between Pakistan and India and found both countries same while coming down via parachute.

The Indian pilot said he found Pakistan Army as a professional force and a brave one. He also hoped for peace between both the neighboring countries.

On the other hand, the nation is celebrating Surprise Day today to pay tribute to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for downing an Indian fighter jet piloted by Wing Commander Abhinandan Vardaman in 2019, Dunya News reported.

On February 27, 2019, the PAF carried out Operation Swift Retort and shot down two Indian Air Force fighter aircrafts and dropped bombs within the compounds of Indian military facilities in occupied Kashmir as a warning to the country’s belligerent neighbor.

The Pakistani military had lived up to its promise to ‘surprise’ India in wake of any misadventure, saying that ‘uncalled-for aggression’ from the Indian military ‘would not go unpunished’.

The operation also resulted in the capture of an Indian pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, after his Mig-21 was shot down. The pilot was later handed over to Indian authorities as ‘a goodwill gesture’.
