Lawyers stormed IHC over demolition of illegal chambers in district court

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Taking note of the commotion of lawyers over the demolition of illegal chambers in District Court, Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minallah has issued an order to close all the courts till further orders.

According to details, the lawyers went berserk against the demolition of illegal chambers in the district court and stormed the Islamabad High Court (IHC). In view of the situation, a heavy contingent of police was called and taking immediate action arrested several lawyers.

Meanwhile, sources said that there have been demands from the lawyers for talks in which it has been said that the lawyers arrested by the police should be released immediately.

The chambers demolished by the district administration should be rebuilt and compensation of Rs 500,000 per chamber should be paid.

Lawyers have demanded that DC Islamabad, concerned SP and Sessions Judge be transferred from Islamabad.

Until the transfer of the district courts, chambers for young lawyers should also be set up on the remaining land of the football ground in F-8.

Ten acres of land should be provided for lawyers  chambers where the district courts are being shifted.
