Punjab hints at completing groundwork concerning local body elections before September

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Punjab government has on Thursday apprised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) about the progress concerning local body elections and hinted at completing groundwork before September.

Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat appeared before the ECP as Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar’s representative and recorded statement on behalf of the provincial regime.

Raja Basharat told the ECP that the number of village councils in the province has been reduces to 8,000 from 25,000 and the elections would be held phase-wise. He said work is ongoing to complete preparations regarding local body elections.
