Mercury dips as monsoon rains continue

Monsoon rains continue to lash the northern areas, lowering temperatures across the country.

The Met Office says rain and winds are expected in the central and northern areas in the next 24 hours. The areas that received rain during the last 24 hours included Mianwali, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Kalabagh, Jhang, Khushab, Noorpur Thal and Jalalpur Bhattian. Risalpur received highest rainfall of 41mm followed by 36mm in Kohat, 21mm in Chirat, 16mm in Garhi Dopatta, 15 in Rawalakot and 3mm in Islamabad.However, heatwave persisted in some areas yesterday. The highest temperature of 44 Celsius was recorded in Dilbadin. The Met Office said Kashmir, KPK, Gilgit-Baltistan and Punjab will receive rain amid thunders.
