Pakistan to buy 1000MW from Iran over four years

New tariff for Iranian power import has been signed, Senate Committee on Water and Power was told.

PEPCO MD Rasool Khan said the tariff agreement is for three years. He said feasibility for 1000MW electricity import from Kyrghystan and Tajikistan has also been readied, though Pakistan has reservations about the report.The standing committee met under chairmanship of Lashkari Raisani in Islamabad. The PEPCO MD said that under new tariff agreement with Iran, the price will range between Rs 5.95 and Rs 8.5 per unit.The MD said 35MW would be imported in two months and Joint Working Group will meet next month in Iran. 220KV line from Iran to Gawadar would be in place by 2012.
