Lieutenant among three soldiers martyred in IED blast in North Waziristan

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched search operation.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Three soldiers including a Lieutenant of Pakistan Army were martyred and three others sustained injuries in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in North Waziristan on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the blast took place when an IED planted along the road by militants went off near a security forces vehicle.

The martyred were identified as Lieutenant Nasir Hussain, Naik Muhammad Imran and Sepoy Usman Akhtar. The injured have been shifted to hospital for medical assistance, the army s media wing said.

Martyred Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid belonged to Muzaffarabad, Naik Muhammad Imran Shaheed belonged to Faisalabad while martyred soldier Usman Akhtar belonged to Rawalpindi.

The soldiers had been deputed to guard the road construction team in the Gharium sector.

Following the explosion, security forces have cordoned off the area and launched search operation.
