A Gujranwala district and sessions judge has ordered that two majors and a solider of the Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) be handed over to the army for their court-martial.According to reports, Major Saeed Kamran, Deputy Director Major Nazir Ahmad and SHO Muhammad Akram Niaz raided Zulifqar’s house in August 2008. Later, they handed over Zulfiqar’s body to his relatives purportedly after torturing him to death and even buried him under their supervision.A case had been registered against 21 ANF officials on the court order but none of the officials was arrested.On an application of Zulfiqar’s mother, District and Sessions Judge Rashid Qamar ordered the arrest of Major Kamran, Major Ahmad, SHO Niaz, Riaz, Naveed and Constable Mehmood Ahmed after dismissing their interim bails.The officials were handed over to the army for court-martial on the request of Lieutenant Colonel Chaudhry Iftikhar of the ANF.Chaudhry Iftikhar said that Major Kamran, Major Ahmad and Constable Mehmood Ahmed were the army officials, therefore, they should be sent for court-martial.The judge ordered that the accused be handed over to the army and their court-martial report be sent to the court after every fortnight.
