Light rain, dust storm bring temperature down in Lahore

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Light rain and dust storm in Lahore and its adjacent areas on Tuesday night brought the mercury down and provided much needed relief to the citizens from persistent hot weather, Dunya News reported.

Rain with gusty winds was also reported from other parts of the country including Pothohar region, upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly wave is present over upper parts of the country. Weak moist currents are penetrating northeastern parts of the country.

Met office said that Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country while very hot in Sindh, south Punjab and Balochistan during next 24 hours. However, rain with gusty winds is expected in Pothohar region, upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed over most parts of country, while very hot in central and southern parts during the past 24 hours. However, rain-wind-thunderstorm occurred in Islamabad, Balakot and Muzaffarabad. Mohenjodaro remained the hottest place in the country where temperature surged up to 47°C.
