Punjab imposes Section-144 to curb Oxygen cylinder hoarding

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Government has decided to impose Section 144 for a period of two months against in an effort to stop hoarding of oxygen cylinders in the province.

According to details, on the recommendation of the Department of Primary and Secondary Health Care, Punjab Home Department has enforced Section 144 against hoarding of oxygen cylinders, regulators, concentrators, pulse oximeters and against illegal profiteering.

Secretary Health Punjab Captain (Retd) Muhammad Usman said that hoarding and illicit profiteering could cause severe problems for coronavirus patients.

He said that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar is personally monitoring the facilities for coronavirus patients and imposition of section 144 will help the district administration in this regard.

"We have recommended strict action against those who create artificial shortages of any facility for patients," he added. The Home Department has issued a notification on the recommendation to enforce Section 144, which will immediately come into force and remain in force for two months.
