Decision to suspend rail operation will be taken after consulting with PM: Sh Rashid

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid on Tuesday has said that the decision regarding suspension of rail service will be taken after consulting Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

In a statement, the minister said that trains cannot be stopped on their ways. He further complained over not taking him into confidence ahead of imposing the lockdown in the country.

Earlier, the railways ministry had decided to suspend operation of 34 trains in the country to limit the spread of the virus.

Sheikh Rashid said, “Out of 134 total trains, 100 are still operational which has cut down the number of daily train passengers from 200,000 to 165,000.”

He also highlighted that Pakistan Railways has refunded train tickets worth Rs80 million to affected passengers which could be used to travel through alternate trains.
