NA passes resolution against anti-Muslim violence in India

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution against anti-Muslim riots in India, demanding that government of Pakistan immediately take up the matter with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

As per details, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan tabled the resolution against the Indian atrocities on Muslims and other minorities during the National Assembly (NA) session chaired by Speaker Asad Qaisar.

Resolution stated that the House condemns anti-Muslim riots in Delhi and demands government of Pakistan to immediately take steps to raise the issue with OIC and UNSC to ensure protection of Muslims and other minorities of India.

The text of the resolution stated that House grieves for the martyrs of Delhi riots and sympathizes with their relatives.

During the session, State Minister Zartaj Gul attempted to pass the senate-approved Geographical Indicator Bill from the house by violating parliamentary rules, on which opposition protested and staged a walk out.

After walkout of the opposition, Abdul Qadir Patel of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) identified the quorum. However Speaker directed to ring the bells for five minutes to complete the quorum.

After completion of the quorum, NA passed the bill tabled by Zartaj Gul and other bills including second amendment in tax laws bill and Establishment of Justice and Aid Authority bill.

National Assembly session was adjourned till March 10.
