Water table lowered in southern KP
Citizens in Peshawar demanded the government to pay special attention to this serious issue
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Underground water level in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, has fallen due to decrease in rainfall. Underground water reserves have dropped from 105ml to 91ml per year.
According to details, annual drop of 0.5mm in underground water reservoirs is being recorded in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Climate change experts believe that Peshawar’s daily usage has increased from 56 million liters to 213 million liters. While underground water reserves have fallen from 105ml to 91ml per year.
Citizens in Peshawar demanded government to pay special attention to this serious issue.
According to experts, if the population continues to grow at the same pace, it is expected to exceed 6 million by 2030, which will require 310 million liters of water daily.
