Army Chief directed Pak Army to provide assistance amid ravaging snowfall

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Army’s rescue and relief operations are underway in the affected areas of Neelam Valley, Gilgit and Balochistan.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), army helicopters are delivering relief goods, tents, blankets, rations, medicines and prepared food to the victims.

According to the ISPR, military personnel, the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the civil administration are taking joint steps and the Karakoram Highway, Jaglot and Skardu highways are now open to traffic at various points.

Earlier, Army Chief directed Pak Army to provide assistance amid ravaging snowfall and expressed grief over the loss of lives owing to the heavy snowfall which has ravaged the parts of Azad Kashmir and Balochistan.

It should be remembered a severe cold snap, snowfall and rain-related incidents have claimed the lives of at least 100 people across Pakistan in the last three days while several others were injured, according to the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) official statement.
