Javed Latif termed NAB Amendment Ordinance as a draconian law.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Javed Latif appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday in the cases pertaining to assets beyond means and misuse of power.

Javed Latif along with three of his colleagues appeared before the anti-graft watchdog where he was questioned for two hours. Talking to media on this occasion, he termed the NAB Amendment Ordinance as a draconian law, while also suggesting the ruling of a new government within two months.

The PML-N lawmaker asserted that the government should pass a unanimous bill to eliminate the NAB law. “No one other than the opposition has been sought by the anti-graft watchdog in past one and a half year,” he said, adding that the new ordinance was presented witnessing the changing direction of accountability.  

On Dec 26, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Javed Latif has challenged National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry against him in Lahore High Court (LHC).

The PML-N leader adopted the stance that he is being subjected to political revenge for holding a seat in National Assembly (NA) and also requested the court to stop the anti-corruption watchdog from carrying out investigation against him.

Moreover, Mian Javed Latif further submitted plea seeking interim bail in assets beyond income case.

On Dec 23, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Javed Latif and his five associates recorded their statements on Monday before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in assets beyond means case.

The investigation team questioned the PML-N leaders for two and a half hour. Javed Latif along with his colleagues Anwar Latif, Munawar Latif, Akhtar Latif, Amjad Latif and Ahsan Javed were summoned by the anti-graft watchdog. The bureau handed over a questionnaire to all the PML-N leaders. 

The NAB sought sources with which they bought various properties. The anti-graft watchdog also sought information about Javed’s farm house constructed on a kanal land, and his homes which are spreading over a two-kanal area.

According to sources, details about investment in Mian Flour Mills, New Mian Flour Mills, Mian Latif Paper and Board Mills, Mian Builders and two brick kilns were sought.
