Supreme Court withdraws stay order in Reko Diq case

The Balochistan government has been advised to decide Reko Diq case on merit.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on Wednesday withdrawn a stay order in Reko Diq case.During the hearing, the parties agreed that the Balochistan government should be allowed to decide the matter relating to the issuance of mining licence.The Balochistan government was also advised to dispose of the renewal application by Tethyan Copper Companywhile the case would remain pending in the court until then.The provincial government was advised to take decision on merit. Balochistan Advocate General Amamullah said that government could be changed during the process. The chief justice said that the governments come and go, but decisions were made on behalf of the state.
