Lahore: Miliband meets Nawaz Sharif

Former British foreign secretary David Miliband called on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind.

The post-Osama situation was discussed during the meeting.Nawaz Sharif called upon the international community not to ignore the tremendous sacrifices rendered by the people of Pakistan in the course of combating militancy and terrorism. Nawaz Sharif expressed his and the party’s resolve for strong and consistent opposition to all the acts of militancy and extremism, adding that there was no place for violence or terrorism in Islam. It was, however, important to understand the complex geo-political, Social and economic factors that have contributed to a culture of violence, not only in Pakistan but also the world over, he elaborated.Talking on the occasion, Miliband acknowledged the critical role played by Pakistan in the struggle against militancy and terrorism.He stressed the international community needed to do more to assist Pakistan in the difficult times.Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Senator Ishaq Dar were also present on this occasion.
