Prominent politicos express solidarity with Kashmiris on Black Day

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In connection with Kashmir Black Day, prominent political leaders on Sunday have expressed solidarity with the people of occupied valley against Indian atrocities.

In a message, Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif said that Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi-led Indian government cannot steal the dreams of Kashmiris by suppressing them. Kashmir is an incomplete agenda of Sub-continent division, he stated.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri people will not go in vain, vowing to support Kashmiris morally, politically and diplomatically.

Foreign Minister Shah Minister Qureshi said that innocent people of occupied Kashmir are forced to live like strangers on their own land from past three months. He minister said that India has turned occupied valley into a biggest jail as people living there are facing curfew. 

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani said Pakistan has raised voice in support of Kashmiris at every forum, adding that international community has to end double standard on Kashmiri dispute.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Shah Farman said Pakistani leadership and nation are backing Kashmir stance and that no power can stop us from supporting the people living in the valley.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said Pakistan and its people will never leave Kashmiris alone in their just and legitimate struggle for right of self-determination as enunciated in the United Nations resolutions.

“On this day, the Pakistani nation expresses its unflinching support and solidarity with cause of Kashmiris and reiterates its firm resolve to stand by them under all circumstances,” she said.

Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar, in his message, said that Kashmiris have enlightened the freedom movement with their blood. Guns cannot hold back Kashmir’s struggle of self-determination, he continued.  

On the other hand, Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and all over the world are observing Black Day to convey a joint message that they have rejected India’s illegal occupation of their homeland on this day in the year 1947.

This was the day when Indian troops forcefully invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in blatant violation of the partition plan of the Subcontinent and against the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said the world would be apprised once again of the enormity of the situation in the IoK.

Several programmes, including rallies and seminars, have been planned throughout the country to express solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir.

Instructions have also been given to Pakistani missions abroad to organise events and engage with Pakistani Diaspora, local parliamentarians, think-tanks and intellectuals to highlight significance of the day.

In Azad Kashmir, rallies, demonstrations and protest gatherings are being held in all small and big cities of the state under the auspices of Kashmir Liberation Cell, Hurriyat and religious organisations.
