Larkana no more stronghold of PPP: Dr Firdous

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – While reacting to the by-election results in PS-11, Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday has said that Larkana is no more stronghold of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

The reaction came after Moazim Ali Abbasi of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) defeated his main rival from PPP Jameel Ahmed Soomro by 5,536 votes in by-election of Sindh Assembly constituency PS-11-Larkana-II on October 17.

According to unofficial and unverified result, Moazim Ali Abbasi bagged 31,557 votes to win the by-polls whereas Jameel Ahmed Soomro remained second by getting 26,021 votes.

In a tweet, the special assistant said the narrative of those making hue and cry over rigging has failed, adding that PPP’s defeat in the by-election is sufficient to open their eyes.

She said this by-election also carries a lesson for those demanding fresh polls in the country.

Meanwhile, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that PPP will also face defeat in Sindh if it fails to hold amendments for the development of the country.

Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had announced to challenge the result of PS-11-Larkana-II by-election result.

Bilawal Bhutto alleged that the National Accountability Bureau committed pre-poll rigging by sending notices to PPP workers prior to by-election in the constituency.

He further said that voting at the female polling stations was started late while the process of voting was intentionally kept slow. He also alleged that the female were also harassed.
