People held violent protest against the long hours of unscheduled load shedding in Karachi.
According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) authorities, as the heat wave hit the country a surge in power usage occurred. The gap between the demand and supply of electricity caused the unscheduled load shedding as the electricity shortfall reached around 4,500 megawatt.The National Power Control Centre in Islamabad shut the supply to the overloaded grids of the country that caused the long hours of power outage in big cities. According to PEPCO authorities, the whole power supply system can trip, if supply to overloaded grids not be shut.
