Supreme Court judge, Justice Javed Iqbal took oath as the acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administered the oath to him. Justice Javed Iqbal will act as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in place of Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza who left for United State on a seven-day visit.The Supreme Court judges, Attorney general of Pakistan and a large number of lawyers attend the oath-taking ceremony.
