Will accept even minor designation for Karachi: Mustafa Kamal

Dunya News

PSP chairman said that corruption is the reason why garbage is getting picked up in Karachi.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairman Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday said that he will accept even the minor designation for Karachi as he took charge of the ‘Project Director Garbage’ which was suspended after few hours of appointment.

Speaking at the press conference, PSP chairman expressed that the corruption is the reason why garbage is not being picked up in the city. He added that mayor Waseem Akhtar and chairmen of four districts should hand in resignation now.

Mustafa Kamal asserted, “I spent Rs300 billions for Karachi, sacrificed my sleep, put the metropolis above my loved ones, put water lines in the sea and brought water to Baba Bhit Island, constructed roads even to Mubarak village and see what have they done to my city.”

PSP chairman said that Karachi has become a wasteland now. Mustafa Kamal against proposed the provincial and district government that he will clean the city in just three months.

Mustafa Kamal sent a message for Prime Minister Imran Khan that 70 per cent of the money for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) comes from Karachi whereas corruption is destroying the city. “We have enough resources and authority to clean the city”, he added.

Earlier, Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar has suspended Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman (PSP) Mustafa Kamal as city’s ‘Project Director Garbage’ hours after he was assigned the duty.

Waseem Akhtar talked to the media and said he had granted the responsibilities to Mustafa Kamal – who had also served as Karachi mayor earlier – as he thought the PSP leader wanted to work for the metropolis with honesty.

“Mustafa Kamal has been removed over misconduct. He was not cleaning up the city but only doing politics. He should have reported to the head office and discussed the formula to clean the city, but he got involved in the ‘china-cutting’ of the department.

“Mustafa Kamal is not a representative of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) that he is asking for documents.

“Karachi is suffering from sewerage and clean water problems, and the administration is working to eradicate them by using the machinery that it possesses.

“The Solid Waste Management Board is not working and the Sindh government is not providing resources to the local body.”
