Doctors of federal hospitals to go on strike

Para-medical staff and doctors will strike in protest against service structure.

In a meeting held in Poly Clinic Hospital, doctors, nurses, para-medical and non-medical staff decided to go on strike on May 9 in Poly clinic and NIRM Hospitals. The staff of Sheikh Zaid Hospital Lahore, Jinnah Hospital Karachi, and Quetta hospitals will also join the strike. Apart from ICUs and emergencies, services will be suspended in all other wards. In the new service structure, the government decided to withdraw housing allowance and pension. In the new arrangement doctors will not remain government employees.
