PPP, PML-Q devise power sharing deal

A power sharing deal has been finalised between the government and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.

PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Faisal Saleh Hayat finalised the matter in their meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari.The leaders discussed power sharing formula, seat adjustment in Punjab and cooperation in the polls of Azad Kashmir and the Senate.The PML-Q demanded ministries of energy and finance sectors. According to sources, Pervaiz Elahi will be given the portfolio of a senior minister, that will be equal to deputy prime minister, and the PML-Q ministers will be answerable to him, instead of the prime minister. The PML-Q’s Jam Yousaf, Amir Muqam and Ghous Bakhsh are expected to get ministerial slots. A source revealed that the PML-Q leaders demanded that the cases registered against Yar Muhammad Rind, Marvi Memon, Ghous Bakhsh, Jam Yousaf and his son should be withdrawn.
