Zardari calls a meeting to review energy crisis

President Asif Ali Zardari called a meeting to discuss the worsening power crisis in the country.

Taking the notice of the worst power crisis in country’s history, the president called Water and Power Minister Naveed Qamar and top officials of the ministry on Monday to brief him about the situation of power generation and demand.The meeting will also review the alternative means of energy generation. Earlier, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani had said that the government was engaged in negotiations with a number of foreign companies interested in investment in the power sector. The prime minister had hoped that the government would be able to bridge the gap between supply and demand.
