After the restructuring of the Karachi shipyard engineering works limited, the company acquired ship building capabilities. Karachi shipyard engineering works limited is the oldest heavy engineering works organization. The company is capable of building and repairing ships and also building war ships and submarines. The pusher tug was also constructed in the shipyard. The tug is of key importance as it is used to toe the ships to the docks. The tug was built for the Karachi Port Trust and it can pull a load of 10 tonnes.Apart from the tug, the dredger which removes sand from the bottom of the sea is also constructed for the Karachi ship yard and the KPT. The Karachi shipyard engineering works limited is also building tanker-cum-utility ship for the Pakistan navy along with Wars ships.
