CJP gave four-month deadline to the district government to buy 279 ventilators.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday has expressed resentment over shortage of ventilators in government hospitals in Punjab.

During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar suggested to approve the summary regarding purchase of ventilators after summoning Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Usman Buzdar in the court.

He further gave four-month deadline to the district government to buy 279 ventilators.

Earlier, the top judge remarked that no one cares about the treatment of the poor as the hospitals are lacking basic machinery.

“The ventilators are dysfunctional in hospitals. Those which are in good condition are for the recommended ones. This shows the complete failure of government in health sector,” he asserted.

Chief Justice stressed that a new formula has to be devised for the prices of medicines after increase in dollar price.
