SC questions FIAs performance in Steel Mills case

The court asked the FIA why big names involved in the case were not being investigated.

The Supreme Court expressed its reservations over the performance of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to probe the Pakistan Steel Mills corruption case.A three-member supreme court-bench, headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the Pakistan Steel Mills corruption case on Wednesday.The CJP said that why the main accused were not being investigated while the FIA director general had also been changed, adding that the investigation was not being conducted transparently.He said that no one was above the law and influential people were also being sent into jails. Justice Sair Ali said that Riaz Laljee’s name was linked with the case but no action had been taken against him so far. The court ordered the FIA to submit a report to the court about the passports and red warrants of all the accused in the case.
