Talks between Pakistan, FATF officials start today
The final round of talks between Pakistan and FATF will begin in Islamabad today.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The final round of talks between Pakistan and Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will begin in Islamabad today (Monday), Dunya News reported.
FATF delegation which reached Islamabad on Sunday will hold meetings with officials of the ministries of finance and interior, the financial monitoring unit and the State Bank of Pakistan from 7-19 October.
FATF team will review the administrative and the legal actions, taken by Pakistani government, to stop the financial assistance to the terrorists.
The delegation is also likely to hold meetings with officials of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and law enforcement agencies.
The measures taken by Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) will be discussed.
The FATF delegation will also recommend exclusion of Pakistan’s name from Gray list or inclusion on the Black list. A final report on Pakistan’s progress on the matter will be presented before a meeting of the FATF later this year.
On the other hand, SECP also has completed paper work to stop monetary assistance of terrorists and the money laundering.
A report, prepared by SECP, regarding measures taken by the government to curtail the financial assistance of terrorists will be presented in a meeting with the FATF team.
