Dawn Leaks: Nawaz Sharif to appear before LHC in treason case tomorrow
Three-member bench headed by Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi will assume the hearing of the case.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif on Sunday decided to appear before Lahore High Court (LHC) in treason case pertaining to controversial interview with Dawn.
As per details garnered, a three-member bench headed by Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi will assume the hearing of the case here in Lahore tomorrow.
The case was filed by civil society member Amina Malik through Advocate Azhar Siddique seeking treason proceedings against Nawaz Sharif, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Dawn’s controversial staffer Cyril Almeida over revealing minutes of a National Security Council (NSC) meeting to Nawaz.
The petition contends that after a meeting of National Security Council held to discuss Sharif’s reckless and misleading remarks, then PM Abbasi approached the disposed premier and revealed to him the concerns of military leadership. The petition says this act had been a clear violation of Abbasi’s oath as PM.
