Nandipur reference: AC summons Babar Awan, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Oct 24

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Accountability Court (AC) on Tuesday, has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Babar Awan and former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for indictment in Nandipur Power Project case on October 24.

Accountability Court hearing the case has ordered Babar Awan, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and other six accused in the case to appear before the court on date fixed for hearing.

The court has directed the respondents to ensure their presence in the next hearing.

Meanwhile, Pervaiz Ashraf has filed plea for personal appearance exemption, granting which the court has issued notice to NAB in this regard.

Earlier, on September 18, Accountability Court had directed Babar Awan and Pervez Ashraf to submit bail bonds worth Rs 0.2m each.

The reference had been filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over alleged delay in the project inflicting a whooping Rs. 27b loss to national exchequer.

Soon after the reference was filed, Babar Awan had resigned as Advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan on parliamentary affairs.

In his resignation to PM Khan, Awan said that he has resigned from his position to prove the allegations against him as baseless.

Babar Awan had stated that the rule of law should begin from him, adding that he is not one of those who stick to their posts despite cases against them.
