711 polling stations in Lahore declared sensitive

ECP has decided to install 2,886 CCTV cameras at the polling stations.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared 711 polling stations for the July 25 general elections as sensitive and decided to install 2,886 CCTV cameras at the polling stations.

A meeting to finalise the arrangements for the elections was chaired by Returning Officer Abid Qureshi and attended by Pakistan Army Brigadier Amir, police officials as well as officilas of the districy monitoring committee.

Briefing the participants, Brigadier Amir said at least 711 polling stations of A-category have been declared sensitive. Four to five soldiers will be deployed at every polling station for security, he added.

For security at sensitive polling stations, he said, 20 to 25 Army men will be deployed. More than 2,000 CCTV cameras will be installed for surveillance.

The participants were informed that those tempering with official documents would face six months in prison and a fine of Rs150,000 or both.
