No compromise on security, vows ECP secretary

QUETTA (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will not compromise on the security of polling staff and candidates, ECP Secretary Babar Yaqoob has said.

“We will approach law enforcing agencies, including the military, Frontier Constalbury and police, to ensure security,” Yaqoob said during his visit to the commission’s office in Quetta, where he reviewed security measures.

“We won’t leave any stone unturned in conducting a free, fair and transparent election,” he added.

In a separate development, the electoral commission has directed the water and power ministry to ensure provision of uninterrupted power supply across the country on July 25.

In a letter dispatched to the ministry, the ECP has asked authorities concerned to ensure power supply, especially at the time of vote countdown, on July 25.
