More than 100 illegal premises will be demolished in the graveyard.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Following the orders of Lahore High Court, the district administration on Thursday began operation against encroachments in Lahore’s Miani Sahib Graveyard.

More than 100 illegal premises will be demolished in the graveyard. Meanwhile, the hearing of the illegal confiscation of the graveyard’s land was held in LHC.



Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi inquired whether the demolition process has been started or not. The government lawyer replied that work has been initiated in the graveyard.



“The orders of the court in this regard should be implemented precisely. If any citizen creates hurdle in the demolition process, he should be jailed for a month,” remarked the judge.

The court while adjourning the hearing summoned the secretary local government tomorrow along with implementation report of the case. 



Dunya News unearthed the illegal confiscation of Miani Sahib Graveyard land. It was revealed that at least 456 places reserved for graves were illegally allotted and have been divided among the influential people against the law.

The land mafia has also fixed walls over 1248 kanal land. The relatives of the deceased are being charged higher amounts for the graveyards allotment.

In the aftermath of the report, a commission formed by Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) reviewed the encroachments on the land of Miani Sahib Graveyard.
