LAHORE (Dunya News) – The implementation report pertaining to liberating land of Miani Sahib Graveyard from the mafia was submitted in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday.

Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi heard the case during which former CDA chairman Kamran Lashari admitted buying land of the graveyard.

He told the court that they implemented the orders and did not permitted any hurdle to come in the way.

“Indiscriminate action is being taken against all those responsible whereas at least 485 premises have been demolished following the orders of court,” said Lashari.

“The orders of the court in this regard should be implemented precisely. If any citizen creates hurdle in the demolition process, he should be jailed and a case be initiated against him under anti-terrorism act,” remarked the judge.

The hearing was adjourned till July 2.

Dunya News unearthed the illegal confiscation of Miani Sahib Graveyard land. It was revealed that at least 456 places reserved for graves were illegally allotted and have been divided among the influential people against the law.

The land mafia has also fixed walls over 1248 kanal land. The relatives of the deceased are being charged higher amounts for the graveyards allotment.

In the aftermath of the report, a commission formed by Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) reviewed the encroachments on the land of Miani Sahib Graveyard.
