Imran Khan favourite for premiership: Pervez Musharraf

Dunya News

I think the PTI chairman is better than PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif

DUBAI (Dunya News) – Former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf on Friday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan is favourite for country’s premiership but said he talks more than he listens.

In his interview with UAE-based newspaper, he claimed that some people have joined his party who can win in the upcoming general elections, while few other others will join the ranks after winning polls.

Many people of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) who were not given tickets are outside available in the market, they are annoyed, adding that they have contacted us and we will be taking them on board.

Responding to question, Musharraf said do you think, being a president and chief of army staff of Pakistan for nine or ten years, I am going to sit in the assembly.

The former military ruler said that there would be a hung parliament then the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) could tilt the balance.

Responding to another question, the former president said that Maryam Nawaz is immature for politics, adding that he supports PTI.

“There wouldn’t be anyone better than Imran Khan for country’s premiership,” he said and added may be there are better people than him as a prime minister.

“Only in Pakistan, there are one or two people who are fit to be prime ministers,” he added.

Imran Khan has good qualities, therefore I think he is better than Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, adding that he thinks the PTI chairman is an honest man and least corrupt but said Khan talks more than he listens.

Commenting about his return to Pakistan, Musharraf said that he wanted to return to Pakistan but he is still to come to a decision on whether to travel to Pakistan or not.

"I haven t decided, adding that there are many issues involved and I am weighing all the pros and cons over the next few days and I will then take a decision."
