Law department appoints new prosecutor in Naqeebullah encounter case

Rao Anwar, DSP Qamar and other suspects appeared before the court.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar on Saturday was produced before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi along with other suspects in Naqeebullah encounter case.
The law department appointed Nazeer Bhangwar as new prosecutor in the case after the former one Ali Raza excused from following the matter over threats.
On the other hand, Naqeebullah’s father Khan Muhammad has hired advocate Nadeem as an attorney.
Khan says Nadeem will now represent him in the case as he cannot travel to Karachi from Waziristan to attend every hearing.
Rao Anwar, DSP Qamar and other suspects appeared before the court. The hearing was held behind closed doors and strict security arrangements were in place for the occasion.
Anwar’s lawyer presented arguments in a petition against declaring Multan Lines in Malir Cantt as sub-jail. The verdict was reserved afterwards and is scheduled to be announced on June 6.
Meanwhile, Naqeebullah’s father and jirga leaders reached NAB office where they filed a petition against Rao Anwar’s illegal assets.
