ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) hearing the contempt of court case against Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry was dissolved on Monday after Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan retired today.

The hearing has been adjourned for an indefinite period and will be resumed after a new bench is formed.

In today’s proceedings, the minister told the court that the his statement on a private news channel was taken wrongly.

He appealed the court to check his conduct and hoped that the court would withdraw the notice.

Justice Ejaz Afzal remarked that he [Talal Ch] wouold be given fair chance to clear himself, adding that the court would announce verdict after reviewing evidence and conduct.

On February 2, the SC issued a notice to Chaudhry for delivering disrespectful remarks against the judiciary and summoned him to court. However, Chaudhry denied and said, “I neither made person specific discussion nor criticized the judges during public meeting or media talks.”
