MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar hints at reconciliation with Rabita Committee

Rift in MQM-P factions deepened as Farooq Sattars meeting with Rabita Committee ended in deadlock.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The deadlock between the factions created amidst split in the Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) over Senate tickets persisted for another consecutive day as both factions of the party announced their separate candidates for the upcoming senate elections.

The MQM-P Convener Farooq Sattar and the members of Rabita Committee held multiple pressers on Wednesday which resulting in further deepening the rift.

After several rounds of meetings between Dr Farooq Sattar and party’s Rabita Committee over the nomination of candidates for the March 3 Senate elections, Sattar told his workers that we are all brothers and we should have a positive attitude. We don’t want to give the impression that there is a divide between us.

Earlier, Waseem Akhtar clarified that their party centre is based in Bahadurabad, and not PIB Colony where chief Farooq Sattar held meetings.

The Karachi mayor voiced against the individual decisions made by party. He reaffirmed the Rabita Committee’s decision against Kamran Tessori. “The decision made by Rabita Committee is final and we will not step back,” he said.

MQM-P leaders Nasreen Jalil and Khawaja Izhar said they will not allow the party to disintegrate.

Meanwhile, a delegation of leaders from the faction led by Amir Khan put forth their recommendations to MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar and hoped for successful negotiations.
