Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has taken the notice of governments delaying tactics to remove the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General (DG) Waseem Ahmed from his post. Hearing of the Hajj corruption case would be held on March 7 instead of March 15.

Supreme Court’s 7-member bench led by the CJP was hearing the Hajj corruption case. The government was directed by the SC to remove the FIA DG immediately but it failed to do so making excuses of security situation in the country. The Establishment Division on Saturday submitted a report in the court submitting that the government cannot immediately remove Waseem Ahmed due to law and order situation but the report, however, said the DG has been separated from Hajj, NICL and Steel Mills corruption cases.Later, FIA DG Ahmed told the Standing Committee of the Senate that banks were not providing information about the accounts of the people involved in the Hajj scandal and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son imported the bullet-proof car after permission of the interior ministry. He claimed that the prime minister’s son paid Rs 8 million customs duty for the car. Talking to media, the FIA DG said that he would resign voluntarily to solve this matter amicably.
