KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh police claimed on Saturday that at least six suspects arrested over Naqeebullah Mehsud’s killing in alleged police encounter in Karachi confessed to their crime during initial interrogation.

The suspects include sub-inspector Yaseen, ASI Supurd Hussain, ASI Allah Yar and others. All of them have been handed over to police on seven-day judicial remand by an anti-terrorism court in Karachi.

The development came after Supreme Court hearing over the suo moto notice in the case. The apex court issued a three-day deadline for Sindh police to arrest Rao Anwar who failed to appear before in the hearing today.

The court also summoned the foreign travel details of Rao Anwar, reply of interior secretary and concerned authorities of land routes and border. SC ordered Director General Civil Aviation to present the statements of private jet owners.

The court while adjourning the hearing till Thursday directed home secretary, DG Civil Aviation, Sindh IG and JIT to submit reports in the case.

Police allegedly fatally shot Naqeebullah Mehsud, 27, during a raid on what they described as a "terrorist hideout" in eastern Karachi.

Naqeebullah’s killing sparked a social media outcry, as his family members rejected claims by authorities that he was a member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban, saying he was an innocent aspiring male model.
