Zainab murder case: CJP's spokesperson denies Kasuri's claim
Kasuri, a former minister, claimed earlier today that CJP had told him that the murderer was caught.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Spokesperson for Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has denied on Thursday senior lawyer Ahmed Raza Kasuri’s claim of the chiefjustice having told him that murderer in Zainab rape case was caught.
Chief justice’s spokesperson said that the statement attributed to the esteemed judge is wrong and no such statement was passed as claimed by Kasuri.
Earlier in the day, Kasuri, a former minister, interacted with the media and claimed that he called on CJP in his chamber in the top court today and discussed the Kasur murder case.
He said that CJP Nisar told him that the culprit was caught. However, clarification of the chief justice followed.
Protests
Civil society, known faces from the entertainment industry and locals in multiple cities have voiced anger and disappoinment in the law enforcement agencies and called for the government to take steps that protect lives of children across the country.
Locals in kasur have clashed with police numerous times since the national media covered the news on Wednesday.

A shutter down strike against brutal killing of the seven-year-old continued on second day in Kasur as all the markets and educational institutions are closed to mark protest.
Protests were reported in Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Peshawar among other cities.
