SC to announce verdict in Imran, Tareen disqualification cases shortly

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court (SC) will announce verdict on PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi’s petitions seeking disqualificaiton of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and PTI General Secretary Jehangir Khan Tareen,

In his petition, Abbasi had accused Imran Khan of concealing offshore company, amassing foreign funding via illegal means, misleading statements in the nomination papers and taking unfair advantage of tax amnesty scheme.

During the case proceedings, Naeem Bukhari complete his arguments on behalf of Imran Khan whereas Akram Sheikh and Azid Nafees presented arguments on behalf of the plaintiff.

The verdict on petitions, heard by a three-member bench chaired by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, was reserved on November 14.


Security arrangments and arrival of politicians


Strict security arrangements are in place with heavy contingents of police and Rangers deployed outside the apex court. It is unlikely that the PTI chief will show up at the Supreme Court due to his political engagements in Karachi. 

Jahangir Tareen has also not arrived yet. 




Sweets have been brought ahead of SC verdict


Senior PTI leaders including Fawad Chaudhry, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Imran Ismail and others are present in the court.

From the other end, case petitioner Hanif Abbasi, other PML-N leaders and team of lawyers have stepped inside the court to hear the verdict.
