Dunya News

The interior minister conversed with Dunya News in an exclusive interview.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior minister Ahsan Iqbal has said on Sunday that Faizabad sit-in protesters belonging to religious parties sowed seeds of hatred and aftermath of politics driven on the basis of faith would have to be endured.

The interior minister conversed with Dunya News in an exclusive interview in programme Tonight With Moeed Pirzada.

The minister said that the hatred that protesters have created at political and religious levels through their unwarranted protest in the federal capital would have its implications.

Iqbal also asserted that no fresh agreement was signed with protesters in Lahore but the agreement signed in Islamabad with the protesting bodies was continued with them.

Iqbal said that there were credible reports about protesters preparing to launch an attack and that  war over faith  would have taken birth if it the situation was not difused. He said that workers of the religious groups were attacking people s houses in Islamabad.

He requested the clerics in Pakistan to learn from mistakes of the past and examples around the world.

The minister said that it is not acceptable that ministers  take oath  before clerics belonging to all areas of Pakistan to take an action.

Pakistan bore huge losses in the 15 days during which the sit-in crippled Faizabad and adjoining areas. The government would have to tackle these losses both at  internal as well as external levels, Ahsan Iqbal added.
