(Dunya News) – It wasn’t just the sound of firecrackers that echoed in the streets of Karachi, but sparklers and clay lamps added life to the Diwali celebrations at the city’s historic Swami Narayan temple.

With Diwali being celebrated across the world on Thursday, the Hindu community in Pakistan also observed the ‘festival of lights’ with religious fervor.

Talking to Dunya News, members of the Hindu community celebrating the festival with much zeal shared that celebrating Diwali is meant to ‘celebrate the victory of righteousness over evil’.

According to Hindu belief, Diwali other than the festival of lights is also believed to be a fiesta of good luck.

Upholding the traditions of Diwali, the Hindu community also distributed Prasad and took part in special prayers.
