ISPR DG for US-Pak intelligence sharing, says joint operation not an option

DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor remarked that Pakistan's soil will not be used for joint operations.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Speaking on "Dunya News programme Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath", DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said that Pakistan’s soil will not be used for joint operations although he mainained that there should still be intelligence sharing between Pakistan and the United States (US).

Regarding the issue of diversity in the army, he said that only people from a certain sect or religion are not eligible for Pakistan Army. "Pakistan Army is served by Hindus, Christians and Sikhs alike," he added.

He also talked about the success of the army in routing and eliminating terrorist groups across the country which, he says is a remarkable achievement unlike some of the Muslim countries who have given up in the face of terrorism.

In the matter of foreign hostage rescue operation, he said that the Canadian-US family was kidnapped by Taliban in Afghanistan back in 2012 and was now being transported from Afghanistan to Pakistan. He said that Pakistan security forces came in action after intelligence information was received yesterday at 4:00 pm and successfully rescued the Canadian family.

Speaking on the issue of national economy, he stated that a country’s economy is closely linked with the security. Pakistan needs to be fully secured for its economy’s boom, he said.

Commenting on Pakistan’s current economy, he said that it is not bad but its not good either and we should be united to devise a strategy for the better future of our country.
