Raza Rabbani calls parliament the 'weakest' institution in the country

Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said that Parliament is the weakest among all institutions
JAMSHORO (Dunya News) – Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Saturday refused to comment on the controversially passed Electoral Reforms Bill and maintained that parliament is the weakest institution among all other institutions in the country, reported Dunya News.
Earlier, on Friday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had passed a controversial Electoral Reforms Bill 2017 from Senate which allows former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to remain PML-N’s chief. During the vote, a reasonable majority of senators were absent.
Rabbani said that in a country where constitution and law are not regarded, and institutions are weak, such bills are usually passed. “Parliament is the weakest institution of them all, however, according to the constitution it should be the most powerful institution,” he said.
While answering a question about former president Gen retd Pervez Musharraf’s allegations on Asif Ali Zardari, Rabbani said that if Mursharraf is brave he should face courts. However, when asked a question about the recently passed bill, he said that as a senator he can’t answer this question.
