PEMRA issues notice after Hamza Ali Abbasi's controversial remarks
In his political talk show, the actor said no one even spits on Pakistani passport
(Web Desk) – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued show-cause notice to a private news channel after Hamza Ali Abbasi gave controversial remarks about the value of Pakistani citizenship.
Talking to one of the guests on his political show, the actor said no one even likes to spit on the Pakistani passport. The media watchdog took notice of the incident and issued notice to the channel authorities.

PEMRA said the channel violated code of conduct. “Airing of such derogatory remarks amounts to spread of hatred and provokes anti-Pakistan sentiments,” said the press release. It ordered the channel chief executive officer (CEO) to report before PEMRA committee and explain their position.
The news channel has been warned that failure to reply or non-appearance will allow PEMRA to take ex-parte action.
Moreover, the media watchdog reacted to allegations of fabricating and misreporting of views of PTI Chairman Imran Khan with regard to recent BBC interview.
