Another show-cause notice issued to Imran Khan over contempt of court petition
Imran Khan has been directed to submit his reply till September 14.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday has issued another show-cause notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan over contempt of court petition.
The commission under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) heard the petition during which Imran Khan was directed to submit his reply till September 14 as he was unable to submit it before.
Talking to media, PTI lawyer Babar Awan said that written copy of ECP’s order was received on August 21. Want to use appeal right, he added. He said that issuing notice to his client over the law which is not yet formed is conflicting to the Constitution.
Earlier on August 10, ECP had issued first show-cause notice in the contempt of court case to Imran Khan, clarifying that it can take action against the contempt of court, as it is in ECP’s jurisdiction.
It is worth mentioning here that Imran Khan had earlier challenged ECP’s power to initiate contempt of court proceedings against him, and the commission had reserved its decision on July 25.
